Ministry of Housing Reports Record Construction Licenses in 2026

The increase in construction licenses is a clear indicator of the growing confidence in the real estate sector. In July alone, the MIVHED issued a record 201 licenses, with Santo Domingo leading the way with 103 licenses, followed by Santiago with 43, Punta Cana with 41, and San Francisco de Macorís with 14. Historically, the average number of licenses issued monthly has fluctuated, but the current average of 160 licenses per month in 2026 marks the highest level since the ministry's inception in 2021.
