Seguros Crecer and Hábitat Dominicana Enhance Homes for Over 100 Individuals in Santo Domingo Norte, Santiago de los Caballeros, and San Cristóbal

In a significant initiative aimed at uplifting vulnerable communities, Seguros Crecer and Hábitat para la Humanidad R.D. have collaborated to improve the living conditions of over 100 individuals across Santo Domingo Norte, Santiago de los Caballeros, and San Cristóbal. The project, titled 'Un Hogar para Crecer,' focuses on enhancing the quality of life for families in need through various structural improvements and educational programs.

Impact on Families

The 'Un Hogar para Crecer' project has directly benefited 104 individuals from 35 families, significantly transforming their living conditions. For many, like María, a beneficiary from the initiative, the improvements represent more than just physical changes to their homes; they symbolize a newfound sense of security and peace. María expressed her gratitude, stating, 'I am deeply thankful to Hábitat para la Humanidad and Seguros Crecer for this help, which has meant a real change in my life and my family's.'

This initiative included the replacement of dirt floors with polished concrete, repairs to roofs and electrical installations, and training in healthy housing practices, safeguarding, pensions, and financial education. These efforts aim to create safer, healthier, and more sustainable living environments for families in need.

Innovative Insurance Solutions

In a pioneering move, Seguros Crecer launched the first inclusive housing insurance policy for vulnerable families in the Dominican Republic. This initiative, part of the 'Un Hogar para Crecer' project, was initially provided to six families in San Cristóbal. This groundbreaking policy aims to enhance access to protective mechanisms for households facing vulnerabilities, thereby strengthening their resilience against natural disasters and other events that could threaten their property.

Nina D’ Agostini, General Manager of Seguros Crecer, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, 'At Seguros Crecer, we believe in promoting initiatives that generate real and sustainable well-being. This project reflects our commitment to support actions that positively impact people's lives, contributing to more families having safer, healthier, and more suitable spaces for their development.'

Corporate Volunteerism and Community Engagement

The success of the 'Un Hogar para Crecer' project was significantly bolstered by the active participation of corporate volunteers from Centro Financiero Crecer. A total of 76 employees participated in two construction brigades held in La Ermita, San Cristóbal, and Canaán, Santo Domingo Norte, contributing an impressive 496 hours of volunteer service. This level of engagement not only provided essential manpower for the project but also fostered a strong sense of community among the volunteers and the families they assisted.

Cesarina Fabián, National Director of Hábitat para la Humanidad RD, highlighted the importance of such partnerships, stating, 'Access to adequate housing is a starting point for transforming lives. This type of alliance allows us to accompany families in building safer, healthier environments with greater opportunities.'
